Week 1 of the NFL season came to a dramatic close with the New York Jets’ win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night, despite the injury to Aaron Rodgers. Now, we have a thrilling Week 2 slate coming up with a boat-load of great matchups, including this one between the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans. Both teams are coming off disappointing losses in Week 1, and they’ll desperately look to turn things around in Week 2. The Chargers lost a 36-34 heartbreaker against a quality Dolphins team. Tua had 466 yards passing for three touchdowns against this Chargers defense. This is unacceptable if the Chargers want to make the playoffs, and they’ll be woking all week to tighten up the defense before Sunday.

On the other side, the Titans had a rough showing in New Orleans, where they only put up 15 points in the loss to the Saints. Tannehill threw three interceptions and no touchdowns in the season opener, which leaves Titans fans very concerned. The Saints are no joke, but the Chargers are a much better team on paper, and the Titans will have their hands full this weekend. Chargers vs. Titans Predictions for NFL Week 2 on Sunday, 9/17

The Chargers and Titans are in the same position heading into Week 2. Nobody wants to start the season 0-2, and these teams will be game-planning like mad men for this matchup. With much at stake, let’s dive into our Chargers vs. Titans predictions. Despite losing in Week 1, the Chargers were able to put up 34 points, and their offense looks very explosive again this season. Between Herbert’s arm strength and the Chargers’ rushing game against the Dolphins, we can expect another big number on the scoreboard this week.

Los Angeles scored three of its touchdowns last week on the ground, with touchdowns from Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelly and Justin Herbert. The fourth touchdown came through the air and was hauled in by Donald Parham Jr.. Austin Ekeler looks to be on his way to another incredible season, as he rushed for 117 yards and caught four passes for 47 yards. Keenan Allen also appears to be in his prime still, as he had six catches for 76 yards.

This Titans defense looks respectable, but we don’t think they’ll be able to handle the Chargers’ attack. Their offense shouldn’t be looked over with Tannehill, Henry and Hopkins, but all three of these players seem as though they may be declining a bit this year, and the Chargers offense looks more explosive. We predict that the Chargers can win this game comfortably by more than a field goal, and potentially by multiple scores.

Chargers vs. Titans Expert Picks and Best Bets

As previously stated, we believe the Chargers have the better offensive attack, and they should be able to overpower the Titans here. The spread is currently Chargers -3 (-105 at DraftKings) and we’re happy to lay the points. Although the Chargers’ defense didn’t look great against Miami, the Dolphins have one of the best offenses in the league, and we don’t see the Chargers giving up more than 14-17 points to the Titans here.

In addition to the Chargers spread, we also want to add a player prop bet into the mix. Justin Herbert threw for just 229 yards last week, and we think he’ll throw for more big plays in this one. Let’s roll with Justin Herbert Over 283.5 yards (-105 at DraftKings).

Chargers Injury Report Ahead of Week 2, Will Austin Ekeler Play?

The Chargers don’t have many notable injuries heading into Week 2 outside of RB Austin Ekeler, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 1. Ekeler did not practice Wednesday for personal reasons, following the devastating death of his agent Cameron Weiss.

Head coach Brandon Staley says the Chargers will “know by the end of the week” if Ekeler is healthy enough to play Sunday. It should also be noted that star edge rusher Joey Bosa missed practice on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. It’s believed that Bosa will be ready to go by Sunday, however. We’ll keep a close eye on their status heading into Sunday, as they play a big role in our Chargers vs. Titans predictions.
